<div dir="ltr">Hi John,<div><br></div><div>My school got a Mini 3D UP for $600, and we have been using it with our Industrial design and 3D Animation courses. I did look at the file formats it works with, STL is a must as most 3D programs can export to it and import from it. Check the materials it prints with (ABS plastic and STL plastic are the most common), and the cost of replacement reels. Also check the minimum resolution that the printer can achieve. </div><div><br></div><div>When setting up the printer we did need to print some additional components for the printer, made with the printer. Also along that line, the RepRap project is a self replicating printer, in that all the parts with itself. </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>At the DLTV conference a rep from <a href="http://3dprintingsystems.com/">http://3dprintingsystems.com/</a> mentioned using a chemical to get a smooth finish on the 3D printed objects, but I can not remember the chemical. So ask them.</div><div><br></div><div>Regards,</div><div>Jamie Le Rossignol</div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On 23 September 2014 11:18, John Helmy <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:johnhelmy@yahoo.com" target="_blank">johnhelmy@yahoo.com</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div><div style="color:#000;background-color:#fff;font-family:times new roman, new york,times,serif;font-size:14px"><div>Good morning,</div><div><br></div><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:14px;font-family:'times new roman','new york',times,serif;background-color:transparent;font-style:normal">At the DLTV conference a presenter mentioned that you can now buy a 3D printer for under $400, but would just buying the cheapest one be suitable for a school.
