Dear Colleagues,

 

Following on from the VITTA Annual Conference & Expo - Leading and Learning
from the Edge on Monday 29th August and Tuesday 30th August, we are pleased
to let you know about the VITTA Conference ICT Industry Bus Tour.

 

The VITTA Conference ICT Industry Bus Tour is a free event on Wednesday
August 31st.   The Bus Tour is open to all teachers and technical support
staff interested in visiting some of Australia's leading ICT  research,
development and educational organisations.

 

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn how developments in ICT will have
even greater impact on our lives in the future.  The day is a fun
introduction to possibilities in the ICT industry and a great way to network
with colleagues and industry representatives.

 

Highlights include visits to the Australian Centre for Health Innovation,
the National ICT Australia, the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing
at Swinburne University and The Huddle at North Melbourne Football Club. All
of these places are leading edge users of ICT.  You will be surprised and
impressed.

The bus departs from the VITTA office.  You should join us at VITTA (134-136
Cambridge St, Collingwood, VIC, 3066, Australia) between  8:00am and 8:30am
to participate in the bus tour.

There are speakers on the bus and a lunch provided and there will be a
morning tea provided.

 

The tour itinerary includes:

 

a)      A visit to a fully operational hospital to home environment for
scenario based education of doctors, nurses, paramedicals, and Allied Health
teams.  See simulations of patient care and appropriate responses at the

b)      View the latest work in bionic eye research and development at
National ICT Australia <http://www.nicta.com.au/>  (NICTA) is Australia's
Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Centre of Excellence at The
University of Melbourne.

 

c)       See the Universe as you have never seen it before and witness Star
& Planet Formation, Pulsars, Globular Clusters, Supermassive Black Holes,
Galaxy Evolution and Big Bang Cosmology. Take a trip around Mars in 3D.  You
will be entranced and fascinated when we visit the  Centre for Astrophysics

at Swinburne University.

 

d)      Visit the Huddle
