VCAA indicated in the presentation that a prototype for Textiles <i>could</i> be a toile, and be sufficient – and that a prototype for Resistant Materials need
<i>not</i> be full scale, and could indeed be manufactured from materials as divergent as cardboard, from unspecified other materials. I’d have a hard time making a prototype cardboard dining table to scale, showing accurate processes, don’t know about you
folks.<br>
<br>
The point of prototyping is to replicate unavailable, or unworkable materials in the technologically limited spaces we have, not to substitute a “Mockup” for a functioning item. Aluminium for Titanium, sure, but I think the VCAA advice presented there extended
the idea beyond the scope of the study design as documented at present, and as presented in the administrative advice.<br>
<br>
I really didn’t like that mixed message that was sent, really. Otherwise the presentation didn’t throw up much. I suppose you’d need to document the change to final garment being a toile in the “modification log”, and reflect on that in the evaluation process
to make up ground.<br>
<br>
Likewise, my students are finding development hard in ISO, struggling to be independently developing concepts – which makes sense really.<br>

Hopefully now that we will be returning to school we will be able to get the production completed in time and not have to cross this bridge. However it would be interesting to hear from teachers where a prototype was presented for their year 12 SAT. I hadn’t
thought of students not returning to school now but that is certainly something to think about.

1 but its an easy AOS to teach and the students can relate to it with their purchasing and making judgements about products to buy. Information from the webinar just reinforced the changes. Preamble from CEO and other person I felt wasn’t necessary.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;mso-fareast-language:EN-US">I’m not sure about other Year 12 teachers but I’ve really struggled with students staying motivated and doing the research required. I’ve
been at this school less than 12 months but have found they need lots of hand holding which is difficult when you aren’t there to do that.

<p class="MsoNormal">If students do a prototype/calico toile instead of the final garment it would be difficult to evaluate the finished product according to the criteria that they set at the start. Because they may not be able to do the embellishment process
on the toile nor can they judge it on certain aspects if it is made out of a different quality fabric. Is the finished quality of the toile expected to be the same as the real product?

<p class="MsoNormal">If all goes well and students come back and stay at school until the end of the year it should not be a problem, they are able to complete the real garment.<o:p></o:p></p>
