<p class="MsoNormal">As the end of the year draws to a close, it is also that time to complete the arduous task of maintaining our workshops & equipment. Here’s a neat little trick for your tool shadows. As I’m too time poor to cut all of these out by hand
why not do it via a CAD-CAM-CNC process (see pictures attached).<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I simply took a picture (bmp) off the net, traced a vector around the pic using V-Carve Pro, nested all parts and exported it as a DXF file. The DXF was imported into our Epilog laser from Alfex CNC and the shapes were cut out in 3mm MDF.
I even pre-painted the reverse side of the sheet before cutting.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">If you don’t have a laser, you can also use your CNC router. I would suggest a full depth pass using 1/8” or 1/4" single flute carbide down cutter. I have attached a URL of from my YouTube channel that highlights this in action here

Notice how quiet this machine is with the camera up close to the cutting head?<o:p></o:p></p>
