seen the proposed list of prohibited equipment in the recent reference guide, my
department and I have considerable concern that students of D&T will have
even less opportunity to be able to learn to use “real life”
equipment in “real life” situations but in a safe environment.
VCE students need to be able to have the choice of a number of “complex
processes” when designing and producing their products. The list limits
the number of processes available to them. It is inconsistent and, I believe,
has been developed with the minimisation of potential legal action in mind
rather than the safe education of our students.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt'>Are
there others out there who feel the way we do at my school? Was DATTA involved
with the development of these regulations? Can we build a united front that
could recommend a more sensible approach to using potentially dangerous plant
and equipment? Can DATTA be the united front and sensible voice in this
issue?<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
