</SPAN></FONT></B><FONT SIZE="5"><SPAN STYLE='font-size:12pt'><BR>
Entries were received from students all over Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales. Winners were announced at the opening of the exhibition of finalists last night.<BR>
<BR>
The Academy Photographic prize encourages young photographers by exhibiting all finalists in each of three categories (schools, tertiary and open) and awarding a scholarship for the study of photo media in the Bachelor of Design Arts degree at the Academy to the entrant deemed to have the most potential. <BR>
<BR>
Michaels Camera Store and Nikon awarded a digital camera to 1st place getters in each category and Michaels awarded vouchers to 2nd and 3rd place getters from each category.<BR>
<BR>
First prize in the <B>schools category</B> (years 10-12) was awarded to Cessiah Henderson from Kardinia International College for her portrait “Hushed Fragility”. Second prize was awarded to Michael Deurwaarder of Eltham High School. Third prize went to Chelsea Greaves of Leongatha Secondary College.<BR>
<BR>
Winners of the tertiary category were: 1st Claire Lawang and 2nd Tegan Ringin, both students at the Academy. The Academy Award of a $1000 scholarship toward studying photo media went to Emma Codrington from the University of South Australia.<BR>
Open category winners were: 1st Ben McNamara, 2nd Georgina Matherson, 3rd Nicola Gertler.<BR>

<B>An Exhibition of Finalists is being held at the Academy’s Clement Meadmore gallery. It is open from 9am-5pm Mon-Fri at 220 Ingles St, Port Melbourne, until 4 July.<BR>
