As new
teacher straight out of the two year course run at Latrobe
Bundoora I found this course very informative and relevant to teaching
technology at a secondary level. Two claim that only completing a two
year degree fails to provide us with the "DEPTH" that four year
course
provides is laughable, as everyone completing this course had to provide
8 years of Trade experience to access this course. As ex "Tradies"=
we
can provide a view of what to expect when students are looking at
starting an Apprenticeship or similar by moving into the "Real World&qu=
ot;
and provide students real life experiences.

With the extra money that technology will be receiving we will be able
to provide our students better facility and equipment to prepare then
for what were are employed to do and educate students on "Life".<b=

So Latrobe and Ballarat. I guess many of us in our 40's and 50's
went through Melbourne Uni's Melbourne State College - what a great
program that was. Four year Ed Degree majoring metal or wood etc =
-
very practical. I guess that's the DEPTH of training that appears to<b=
r>
be missing now? I wish Melbourne Uni would start it up again.... a bit
like the Tech schools ... expensive to start em up again!

It's great you were able to give your perspective to those students.
Sounds very satisfying.
