Hi

>From meetings I have attended we have been told by VCAA that purchasing practice exams isn’t recommended. Personally I know I made a mistake when I purchased an exam as I couldn’t use it due to incorrect terminology.

I write my own using VCAA past exams, SAC and SAT as a guide – that seems to have worked as my students regularly get above 40. Trust your own knowledge and ability to be guided by past VCAA exams, the Folio (SAT) and the SACs to write an exam.

Hi Jo,

I’m not sure if your specialist area is Textiles or Wood, but I haven’t found anyone who writes a good practise exam for Textiles. I find it much better to create my own from past exams. The students then get a better feel for the language the VCAA uses. I will usually substitute a different product or design brief just to keep them on their toes.

QAT’s have done one that has a strong Wood focus, so if that is your area it may be worth contacting them.

Regards,

Melissa
